I am currently qualified number 2 in the Power 4 class. My qualifying run was a 12.022 @ 116 mph letting off right before the traps to avoid getting a warning and possibly getting DQ from the event. Number 1 qualifier is a hair faster although I am sure he is doing the same thing . His qualifying run was a 11.95 @ 118 (pushing 20 psi). Should make for some intresting racing tomorrow for eliminations! And maybe just maybe.. bring home a little cash.

Why would you have been DQ'd?
Not up to <12 second safety rules?

Holden,
DING DING DING... you are correct !!!!! Neither myself nor the number 1 qualifier. Should make for an intresting bracket race in the finals if everything goes well today. If we both break into the 11s we loose 1st/2nd place money and it goes to the 3rd place winner. Kinda screwed up I guess. I am just to poor to buy a cage and didn't expect to have to until I put my gsr motor in. I am about to buy a multi disc clutch from cluth masters here at the event. Retails for 1500.00 for a really really good price. Oh my 3 month old clutch masters stage 3 has gone cuput. Up til 5 am changeing into a temporary act extreme for this event. But hopefully soon I will get a cage put in. Going fast is so much fun but I'll be damned if the shit don't get ridiculously expensive. Now I need to get a cage, scatter shield, fire jacket, 5 point harness, extended studs, ARGGGGGGGH! At that point how am I supposed to get a street race or two??

Okay.. I will give you the low down as to what happened. Saturday after my 12.02 pass for my second qualifier I decided not to do my 3rd qualifying pass, not only to save on motor but also to avoid the 11's. My goal was to save the 11 sec pass for the final and that would count as my warning, additionally I would take home 1400.00 Well with my luck nothing goes as planned. On my first round of eliminations I was paired up with a nitrous civic whos best qualifying run was a whopping 13.2, respectable, but I didn't really see him as a threat. Sooooo... We stage and this is what happened. My number is #131 (this is a pro tree mind you .4 sec is perfect)
car#....... 146 ......... 131
r/t........ 1.390......... .908
60'........ 1.715......... 1.691 (whip lash )
330........ 4.920......... 4.902
1/8........ 7.573......... 7.524
mph........ 93.30......... 93.80
1000....... 9.829......... 9.790
1/4........ 11.875........ 11.848
mph........ 105.05........ 100.70 (on the brakes)
During the run my car felt great I felt a bit of whip lash in my neck getting out of the hole. That has to be one of my best 60'. Anyways.. I had a pretty good lead on him since he obviously fell asleep at the line, but either way at the end of the track I look back and only had about 6-7 cars on him. I though to myself.. isn't he supposed to be running 13's?? Anyhow I hit the brakes 2 times trying again to avoid hitting the 11's but I had totally misjudged my speed. I certainly beat him, but I got scolded by the track officials and obviously got the warning that I didn't want to hear till the final. But I didn't have much of a choice either.. had I lost to him, I would of been eliminated, and I didn't want that to happen Needless to say it put me in a really bad spot, cuz now my next compeditor clocked in with a 12.2 on his qualifying runs which left me about .2 sec margin. I don't know about you all, but that is mighty difficult to judge going at speeds well over 100 mph. Needless to say here is the time slip for my second round of eliminations. I totally misjudged this run. I got off the throttle in middle of 3rd gear and hit the brakes.. But he gained up on me way quicker than what I expected and by the time I got back on it I was wayyyyyy out of my power band, no boost and a slip to show for it Boy I hate myself for this. Had I won this one I had a bye run into the finals which was a guaranteed minimum 600 for 2nd place or 1300 for first place. Here is the slip notice my 1/8 mile mph and my 1/4 mile:
car#....... 058 ......... 131
r/t........ .632 ......... .644
60'........ 1.969......... 1.832
330........ 5.305......... 5.159
1/8........ 8.047......... 7.813
mph........ 89.96......... 93.14
1000....... 10.435.........10.141 (started to slow down)
1/4........ 12.461........ 12.466
mph........ 109.39........ 92.97
This guy edged my out by a freaking cunt hair. I mean barely got the win. Argggggh.. I am sooo dumb. All these problems just because I don't have the proper safety equipment.
Now I have to get the following:
6 point cage - chromoly
5 point harness
extended wheel studs
scatter shield
fire jacket
This sport is getting ridiculously expensive, but it's sooo much damned fun. Oh and that run above I am estimating an easy 11.5 run had I stayed on the throttle and hell I would of had I known I was going to break out anyway God I love this little stock b16a!!!!

Hey gsrev,
wanna friendly rematch with those nitrous civics? those are my friends from Baton Rouge. My friend won first place in the Power 4 class because his opponent didn't have a cage either and was DQ.
We're hosting our own lil' import event here in BR on May 26th. Of course it will be nothing compared to WIC, but it'll be fun and you'll definitely be one of the fastes to show up. I can count on one hand the amount of 13 sec and faster hondas here in the area.
please check out the link to see the payouts. For you, this race will be eeeasy money. just be sure to get that cage in!
